PROJECT ZALIX FAN CONTENT POLICY
Project Zalix Fan Content Policy
Last Updated: February 17, 2025
Zenotype Entertainment, LLC (“Zenotype,” “Zenotype Entertainment,” “we,” ''our,” or “us”) being fans of Fan Content (art, cosplay, animations, etc.) ourselves want to encourage you to create and share your incredible works!
Below we have broken down a list of general questions we’ve seen when making Fan Content, including Fan Content using Zenotype’s Intellectual Property (IP). Our genuine hope is that you understand that any restrictions laid out in this Fan Content Policy are intended to protect Zalix, Zenotype, our community, our characters, our universe, and our IP.
TL;DR: The use of Zenotype’s IP in your Fan Content is governed by four simple questions: Is it free? Is it offensive? Does it hurt anyone? Are you conveying it as official or officially licensed by Zenotype? If your answers are “yes, no, no, and no” in that same order? Then we are in good shape! Check out our rules and FAQ below for more details.
Rules

1. Four letters: F-R-E-E. You can use Zenotype’s IP to make Fan Content for free. That means no commercial projects. It must be entirely free.

-
You are not allowed to require payments, surveys, downloads, subscriptions, or email registration to access your Fan Content;
-
You can’t sell or license your Fan Content to any third parties for any type of compensation; and
-
Your Fan Content must be free for others (including Zenotype) to view, access, share, etc.
-
However, you can subsidize your Fan Content by taking advantage of sponsorships, ad revenue, and donations - so long as it doesn’t interfere with the access to your Fan Content.
2. Don’t be offensive and don’t hurt anyone. Zenotype and our IPs were built with the goal of creating safe, creative, healthy, and representative communities. As such, we reserve the right to stop or restrict your use of Zenotype’s IP at any time - for any reason or no reason - including when we think your use is offensive, damaging, disparaging, or hateful. If this happens, you must immediately take down your Fan Content.
3. Let’s not confuse anyone. We don’t want members of the community to get confused between official Zenotype and/or Project Zalix Content and your Fan Content. You may not use any of Zenotype nor Project Zalix’s logos or trademarks anywhere in or on your Fan Content, websites, podcasts, publications, advertising materials, etc. unless you have written permission or a written agreement with us. This includes registering domain names, social media accounts, etc. that use any of Zenotype’s trademarks, trade names, copyrights, character names, names or things found in our IP, etc. Again, our goal is to prevent confusion about official Zenotype Content and your Fan Content.
4. Credit where credit is due. This rule comes on behalf of all of us at Zenotype. If you repost or take someone else’s Fan Content, please be sure to give the original creator appropriate credit. Nothing is worse than taking credit for something you didn’t create or having a piece of Fan Content get hundreds or thousands of likes without knowing who the original creator is.
5. Please don’t break the rules. Just abide by the rules and FAQ, take down or modify your Fan Content when requested, and all will be well. Our goal is to protect our IP, characters, worlds, employees, and community. However, should Zenotype, our partners, affiliates, or employees get any legal claims, fees, or expenses related to your Fan Content, you are solely responsible for paying any and all of our costs and any resulting judgment(s) or settlement(s).

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What exactly does Zalix’s Intellectual Property (IP) include?
A1: Zalix’s IP encompasses a range of materials including, but not limited to, Zalix’s character designs, storylines, dialogues, logos, artwork, digital assets, and any other original content created and owned by Zenotype. It represents the unique elements that make Zalix distinct.
So long as your content doesn’t break any laws, follows our Fan Content Policy and Rules, and you don’t claim it to be official Zenotype or Project Zalix Content? We will be cheering you on!
Q2 : What does Zenotype define as, “offensive, damaging, disparaging, or hateful” Fan Content that you’ll take down?
A2: Anything that might reflect poorly on Zenotype or hurt our fans or community. Essentially? We ask that you keep your Fan Content focused on our projects, characters, and other published materials and away from overtly controversial topics. We have a zero tolerance policy for racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, ageism, and any other offensive content.

Q3: Can I make a fan page or fan social media accounts about your characters, projects, IPs, etc.? And use official Zenotype or Project Zalix Content?
A3: Absolutely! It genuinely warms our hearts and as per the usual: we will be cheering you on! Just follow our Fan Content Policy and Rules and make sure to leave a visible disclaimer that you are a fan page, fan account, etc. and not affiliated with Zenotype nor Project Zalix.

Q4: If my Fan Content features a logo, icon, or a trademarked symbol from a Zenotype IP, should I remove it?
A4: If you have a logo such as the Meridian Incorporated logo or a mark of a Praetor class in your artwork, please feel free to keep it on so long as they aren’t altered. The only logos you can’t use are the official Zenotype and Project Zalix logo(s) or wordmark(s).

Q5: Can I accept commissions to create Fan Content based on characters or other elements from Zenotype’s IPs?
A5: Absolutely! You can accept commissions for monetary compensation so long as the artwork will either be for their personal enjoyment, a gift, or intended to be freely posted online. Just please be sure not to use any Zenotype or Project Zalix logos or wordmarks and follow our Fan Content Policy and Rules.

Q6: Does Fan Content include videos and live streams?
A6: Yep yep! Just follow the above policies and you’ll be fine.

Q7: My Fan Content is free for anyone to access, but can I take ad revenue or donations?
A7: Absolutely! We feel very strongly about this as many Zenotype team members also create fan projects across various other IPs, and know first hand how much time and energy goes into each piece of Fan Content.
Feel free to make as much ad revenue as possible and accept donations for your Fan Content on platforms such as YouTube! Just please be sure to follow our Fan Content Policy and Rules.

Q8: Can I make Fan Content such as montages of characters, story elements, etc.? Can I make ad revenue or take donations?

Zenotype does reserve the right to demonetize or take down your Fan Content using Zenotype’s IP at any time - for any reason or no reason - including when we think your use is offensive, damaging, disparaging, or hateful. If this happens, you must immediately take down your Fan Content.

Q9: Can I get a tattoo using Zenotype’s IP(s)?
A9: Go for it! We just have one request: tag us on social media (@projectzalix on all platforms) so we can properly geek out with you!

Q10: May I include Fan Content in my professional portfolio?
A10: Not a problem with us so long as you make it clear that your work is not affiliated with or commissioned by Zenotype.

Q11: Can I put the Zenotype and/or Project Zalix logo(s) on clothing such as a t-shirt or hat and sell them?
A11: Negative. You need written permission or a written agreement from Zenotype to incorporate any of our logos and trademarks in your Fan Content, including merch. That said, we will have merch regularly using our trademarks and IPs via our store and partnered vendors.

Q12: May I sell my Fan Content online or at conventions?
A12: As of this version of our Fan Content Policy last updated on February 17, 2025: you as an individual (not associated with any corporation) are by all means allowed to produce original Fan Content for your own enjoyment, gifts, shared freely online, and sold online or at conventions. There are, however, a few rules.
(1) By no means are you allowed to sell official Zenotype Content (concept art, character art, key art, posters, animations, etc.). If you intend to sell your Fan Content it must be completely original and void of any Zenotype and/or Project Zalix logos or watermarks.

(2) If you are a company, corporation, or other business entity seeking to produce original Fan Content with the intent to sell online, in-store, at conventions, or in any other capacity contact us via email at contact@zenotype.com with “IP Use Approval Request” in the heading. We’ll reply back as soon as we are able.
Please understand that if you don’t hear back from us, it does not mean we approve of your request to use Zenotype’s IP. Zenotype reserves the right to stop or restrict your use of Zenotype’s IP at any time.

Q13: Can I share or tag Zenotype and/or Project Zalix in my Fan Content?
A13: Is that even a question? Yes! We love to see what you’ve created. Our only request is that you please don’t send us your ideas for our stories, characters, or future products. Those will be deleted without review.

Q14: What about NSFW Fan Content?
A14: Okay. This talk. As stated above, you are allowed to create and publish Fan Content so long as you follow our Fan Content Policy and Rules. This especially includes the use of Zenotype’s logos and watermarks.
That said, please do your due diligence by keeping NSFW content from being seen by those who do not wish to see it. Make sure your accounts clearly indicate that you post NSFW content before sharing. If you do post it on Social Media, this is especially important to us. Please follow the guidelines of the platforms you share on.
Remember: Zenotype reserves the right to stop or restrict your use of Zenotype’s IP at any time including when we think your use is offensive, damaging, disparaging, or hateful. If this happens, you must immediately take down your NSFW Fan Content.
Bottomline? Please don’t make us explain your NSFW Fan Content to our legal team.

Q15: Can Zenotype and/or Zalix use and display my Fan Content?
A15: Yes! Our goal with this Policy is to take down barriers for sharing. That said, we will always first attempt to reach out to you first to find out which social handles you go by and how we can best attribute credit to you for your outstanding Fan Content! We encourage others to do the same.
Q16: Can I create fan characters (OCs) and write short stories about Zenotype’s IPs such as Project Zalix?
A16: Absolutely! Yes! We love that our world and characters inspire creativity, and you’re more than welcome to write and share fanfiction. However, there are a few important things to keep in mind:
(1) Fanfiction is not canon. While we encourage creative exploration, all fanfiction should be clearly labeled as unofficial and should not be presented as part of Project Zalix’s established lore.
(2) No one on the development team will read fanfiction. This is to protect both your creative work and our own. Our stories, characters, and plotlines are planned years in advance, and we want to ensure that everything we create remains original and uninfluenced by external sources. This policy helps prevent any misunderstandings about where ideas originate and ensures that both you and our team can continue creating freely without concerns about overlap.
(3) Do not direct message, email, or otherwise contact the team about your fanfiction. If you do, the message will either be immediately deleted and the recipient will be blocked from further direct communication with said member(s).

Q17: How can I contact Zenotype about my Fan Content?
A17: Should your Fan Content not be covered by this Policy, you will need our prior, written approval or a written agreement for things such as use of Zenotype’s logos or watermarks. If you have any questions or the Fan Content you want to make is not covered by this Policy, contact us via email at contact@zenotype.com with “IP Use Approval Request” in the heading. We’ll reply back as soon as we are able.
Please understand that if you don’t hear back from us, it does not mean we approve of your request to use Zenotype’s IP; it likely means your question is covered by the Fan Content Policy.

Final Note
We are humbled and genuinely excited by anyone who feels enough of a connection with our IP, characters, and universe to express that connection and passion through Fan Content! Many of us at Zenotype got into the industry through our own fan creations be it art, YouTube channels, or cosplay. Our hope is that you feel more empowered than ever to create Fan Content around our IPs and know that you have the entire Zenotype and Project Zalix team is backing you up and cheering you on!
