Dr. Vyran Bax, Log 259: Anomaly. Latent signal detected in sector one two five point six. We’re approaching the perimeter of the EMI source. Slight electrostatic coupling on the Ardent’s ILS, but Echo is compensating.

Dr. Vyran Bax, Log 501: We pulled a larger crystal specimen from the crater, and achieved a significant breakthrough. Testing confirms a recent re-charge of the allotropy matrix, a phenomenon that hasn’t been observed in our modern age anywhere on Elysium. Investigating what parameters made this possible. I recommend extending our presence here indefinitely for further study.

Dr. Vyran Bax, R-Drive Development Log 35: I’ve returned from touring the ship forge of the Ardent. Seeing an A-class fighter without any weaponry is an entertaining paradox. Upon my examination the only concern I have is the quantity of energy it would be able to exert into the drive before completely draining its own cells- but Shipmaster Ignaseo assures me that we will be able to quickly retrofit the Ardent should we need to modify her. I’m currently boarding a transport to visit Isqun’s fabrication facility to ensure the latest housing is to spec.

Dr. Vyran Bax, R-Drive Development Log 142: Despite last rotation’s rather… disappointing live firing test… I have to admit, OMNI has been a tremendous asset to speeding up our timelines. For instance, my new friend has been able to seamlessly solve for Masse’s Equation and reduced the Grave’s Effect on the first frequency emitter by twelve percent. TWELVE PERCENT! OMNI also doesn’t require time to power down and since his matrix doesn’t appear to have the capability of overheating-he is capable of working when I must succumb to the exhaustion of my mortal coil. Should we survive this, I might have a new project in mind. But one thing at a time.

Dr. Vyran Bax, R-Drive Development Log 1313: We’ve hit another snag with the allotropy matrix. All the simulations run by OMNI have indicated that the energy throughput is not sufficient at the scale needed to envelop CC-281. We are on the sixth iteration of this mucking thing. Maybe I just need to close my eyes for a few hours- after I send the resource request to Isqun… and maybe some light digging through-

Dr. Vyran Bax, R-Drive Development Log 1481: Success! Virtually every test imaginable has been running green across the board for the Rift portal for at least the last five cycles-far longer than what we require to safely slip CC-281 away. At the time of this recording, we are estimating we will have an additional 66.2% charge left in the drive’s crystal which I’m sure will come to Sloane’s relief. Though, I am not celebrating yet. OMNI and I will run through every variable and every simulation with a fine haired brush to ensure we are beyond a 99.9% chance of success. We cannot afford to be anything less than as precise as a curare tipped blade. And believe me- the irony of the hair analogy is not lost on me.

Dr. Vyran Bax, R-Drive Development Log 1492: We have retrofitted the Rift Drive on to the Ardent this morning. OMNI and ECHO have poured over every system, every piece of equipment, every line of code to ensure that tomorrow will be nothing but perfection. Roland and his team, with Sivaun and Cassius in tow, will depart for the Midway Station within the next cycle for final refueling and to check instrument readings while in-orbit. For some strange reason, for the first time in years, I feel… at peace? I know, I know, it is a strange thing to say a rotation before the fate of civilization as we know it is to be decided-but my mind has been lulled as though I have been standing my entire life and I’ve finally just sat down. Enough of my rambling. In a few cycles either the world will still be here… or not. Either way: it has been a pleasure to know you... recorder.
