Kara Vale is Valleteian, originally from the mysterious Kingdom of Seas. She grew up hearing fantastical tales of Elysium and of benevolent monarchies guiding their people through stars of time. Dazzling traditions of Valleteia are ingrained in her, and, like every Valleteian citizen, she carries those resonant waves of history wherever she goes.
But Helios City is now her home inside the heartbeat of the Kingdom of Eidolon, a whole ocean away from her birthplace and what remains of her biological family. Her upbringing was an isolated one in which her family raised her in what ultimately is a monastic religious order that adheres to the Essence of Elysium mythos.
A mentor once told Kara to look at the stars before crying. Something about perspectives and the lattice of life being easier to see and comprehend. It was supposed to bring comfort in showing how small a moment’s trouble could be when compared to the vast tapestry of life’s possibilities. Tears of her sorrows and frustrations were supposed to be crystalized into prisms, creating joyous light and ornaments of Elysian sky as she looked up toward that vast starry ocean above her.
But it doesn’t help anymore.
It was from these stars her mentor had fallen, along with countless others who had hoped to build a life on the Midway Space Station. Along with those she loved.
Though painful, Kara has chosen to walk away from what feels like a previous life as a child of Valleteia. When Zalix meets Kara, even though she is supposed to be the check to the balance of Zalix’s sometimes chaotic antics, Kara is unmoored at this time in her life, seeking to find… something. She doesn’t know what that something could be. Like many after the comet calamity, Kara is still adjusting to a new normal after the Midway fell.
Kara is highly dedicated to her work. She is a skilled pilot, one of few known Seraph Agents within the Zenith Harmonium, and is a trusted advisor to CEO Vincent Sloane and Dr. Vyran Bax. Additionally she is officially designated as Zalix’s handler while the experimental Xperion discovers his own path in his unique life. Dr. Bax hopes the assignment will be a positive spark for Kara, something that will divert her mind away from a painful past.
Most notably, Kara has a biomedical implant integrated into the left side of her head that Dr. Bax surgically installed ten months prior to Zalix’s awakening. Not solely a medical trial for new technology, Dr. Bax designed the device specifically to save Kara’s life. A new medical breakthrough may occur as a result of curing someone who is like a daughter to him. The operation involved carefully removing a tumorous growth behind Kara’s ear that was stretching into her skull and threatening many structures of her brain.
Dr. Bax seamlessly integrated the new tech into the biomechanisms of her brain structure and nervous system in order to keep any regrowth at bay. An artificial intelligence ensures this medical directive and is housed within the cranial device, having become Kara’s additional immune system.
Perhaps as an unintended side effect, this cranial device also integrates into Kara’s other previously installed Zenith implants and provides interesting combat enhancements via her left arm, assisting in her duties as a Seraph.
Kara hopes to one day return to the skies of Helios City as a pilot of her own space-jet, though she must first overcome the complications of her diagnosis. The artificial intelligence housed within her cranial implant is determined to help her achieve this goal and, after overcoming initial hurdles of trust, has become a close friend and confidant.
Kara admires her Valleteian heritage and the respect for Elysium’s history that the kingdom instilled within her, but, a whole ocean away from her birthplace sits quite well with her. Ultimately, Kara is in the middle of the dark night of her soul and seeks to rediscover her power and her own identity apart from her home kingdom and past.
