DR. VYRAN BAX

Dr. Vyran Bax is a custodian of ingenuity and one of the leading scientific minds of Elysium, serving as the active Chief Scientist at Meridian Incorporated where he has revolutionized medicine, technology and space travel during his tenure. Many regard him as the greatest mind of the last three Elysian generations, though others only see what they perceive as his failure in the Calamity. He is often a target of blame for the magnitude of destruction five solar cycles ago, and most overlook and cast aside his and his team’s actions at Meridian Incorporated as being the sole reason civilization and Elysian life as a whole survived at all.

Even so, Dr. Bax sees himself as a failed Archon of the Council of Elysium and vehemently renounces the title. He carries a monstrous burden of guilt heavily upon himself and, until recently with Zalix’s public debut, is a recluse and rarely seen outside of his Prism Laboratory in the time since the calamity.

Before Dr. Bax became one of the most renowned scientists of his time, he served Elysium as an accomplished Praetor pilot and member of the Eidolon Praetorate. He and his long time friend, Vincent Sloane, fought together in the same elite unit of special Praetor operatives in the Schismatic Fracture War against Sernatum forces, known historically as the Great Schism War. The war was harsh on both of them, and Bax barely emerged from the conflict, owing Sloane his life after a harrowing mission meant to quickly end the brutal, planetwide war. The Treaty of Five finally brought an end to the war, and with a combination of his injury and the depletion of the supply of powered crystals, Dr. Bax found himself honorably discharged from service, and then would fully dedicate himself to rebuilding and working toward a new golden age for all Elysians through his role at Meridian Incorporated.

As a co-founder of Meridian Incorporated, Dr. Vyran Bax remains a treasured asset of President Vincent Sloane’s menagerie, reverently designated long ago as an award-winning Torchbearer of Ingenuity. Dr. Bax credits his team of specialists though as his conduit of visionary innovation, for he is steadfast in his belief that scientific marvels are perfect expressions of what Elysian minds are capable of united together.

Even though burdened by his past, carrying scars both physical and mental, Dr. Vyran Bax continues to navigate the intricate dance of possibility and practicality, turning the intangible into the tangible, all for a better Elysium.
