Historically, Vincent Sloane was a treasure of Helios City and a gem of all Elysium. Most saw him as a benevolent philanthropist, war hero or inspirational leader, who lifted a tattered and war torn people up to an age of peace and prosperity. Those with power respected Sloane and gave deference to his technological empire built around his company, Meridian Incorporated.
Following the Schismatic Fracture War, the five kingdoms of Elysium eventually came to a consensus and achieved a time of peace for what seemed like the first time in many centurion cycles. Though, this peace did not come without its challenges. Elysian crystals, Elysium’s most notable though finite resource, were nearly all used up and expended at the time of war’s end. These crystals were the main power source for Praetor armor, and the famed warriors faded once again into myth and tradition.
Early in life, he was joined by Dr. Vyran Bax in the Schismatic Fracture War. They both served in the same unit of Praetors, Sloane leading the elite group and becoming instrumental in ending the horrible war. Sloane’s heritage Praetor suit of armor was what was designated as a Paladin. Sloane and his ancestors modified the suit over many generations and changed fighting styles slightly from the ancient tradition. Following the war, he kept the Praetor suit displayed in his office at Meridian’s tri-tower complex, preserving his family heirloom and history. He hoped to one day pass this along to his son, continuing the tradition of service and honoring the past.
One of his beloved qualities, he never knew a stranger, which perhaps was the cornerstone of his success. Among those who knew him and worked closely with him, that small, kind spark always shone in his eyes despite the heaviness carried from the war. Legacy was a heavy mantle to bear, though one Sloane wore well. A visionary, a warrior, and a friend, Vincent Sloane was the man who rose to the occasion to help pave the way toward an age of prosperity and hope for future generations of Elysians.
